The Department of Food Technology, of Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, has succeeded in inventing a cashew nut roasting machine for Ban Rai Yai Agricultural Housewife Group, located in Hnua Klong District, Karbi province, for the production of roasted cashew nuts. The roaster is consisted of stainless steel sheets with wheels attached to the bottom of the sheets. These wheels make the sheet move around on the track which is mounted over a stove. When roasting process is finished, the sheet is pulled out of the stove by using a long steel bar with a hook at one end. Then extinguish fire on the sheet with shower. There is another sheet underneath to collect the water. The sheet is pulled to the end of the track and tilted to pour roasted cashew nuts into a stainless steel basket. The roasted cashew nuts are ready to be cracked. The invented cashew nut roasting machine is able to improve the existing production process to meet food safety standards and GMP.
