The roller bearings in the centrifuges are monitored continuously using an SPM system. Shock – impulse sensors (B) and bearing damage detectors (E) are installed at each bearing and connected to a connected to a central alarm (C).
Pressure waves (shock impulses) emitted by damaged or worn bearings are picked-up by the sensor, converted into an electrical signal and transmitted via a co-axial cable to the bearing damage detector. An alarm is triggered if the signals from the sensor exceed a set limit more than once every 10 seconds. |
