"Harvard: Vegetarians, Elderly Need Enough Vitamin B12"

         US: Vegans (people who do not eat any meat, dairy, or eggs) are more prone to developing a B12 deficiency, as most reliable sources are from animal-derived product. However, consuming eggs and dairy products meet less than half the adult recommended dietary allowance of 2.4 mcg of B12, a report by the Harvard Health Letter. more

      Now, we are in the last quarter of this year. Time is really flying. As we look around us, it is found that things have changed. Food is one of them that have changed according to consumption trend. Since early this year, people have paid more attention to health food. In order to respond to consumers' demand, food operators have developed health food products in various forms. Functional food is one form of health products.    " Thailand Compiling Fruit Insect Data for New Zealand for Opening New Markets "

         Mr. Udon Hunhawut, Director of Plant Varity Retention Research Group, Crop Promotion Research and Development Office under the Department of Agriculture, revealed that Thailand has opened a free trade area, effective on July 1, 2005 onwards, with New Zealand . It is an opportunity for Thai agricultural products, particularly lychee, longan, mangosteen, durain, and fresh ginger, to enter and increasingly expand the markets in New Zealand . These products have a high potential for export. With regard to exporting these products, the Department of Agriculture has hurriedly compiled name lists of plant insects of the respective fruits and submitted them to New Zealand for consideration to set up the criteria for importing Thai fruits. Machinerier invented by the project

         The Promotion of Advisory Services to Enhance Competitive Production Technology and Processes in the Food Industry project has been operating since January 2002. Up till now, the project has provided 13 SMEs with advisory services pertaining to process development which helps enhance the efficiency, capacity, and quality of production, including reduction of human labor and material costs, leading to low cost of production. In doing so, the project has designed and fabricated food machineries with appropriate technologies which are suitable for various conditions of the food factories and meet the demands of SMEs.
